Doesn’t he have these backwards?

Apparently, the Professor has learned how to climb before he can walk.

I thought this stage would come AFTER walking. Like liquids before solids, crawling before running, whining before eye-rolling, back-talking before body piercings and tattoos. He has totally messed up my baby defenses for our living room. I had everything in here “baby proofed” so I could go make my lunch, or just go to the bathroom without dragging him along with me. He has conquered the coffee table, and is now working on the couch. He has already flipped over the back of it once, luckily landing on the pillows that I was febreezing at the time. It’s a short couch, but tall enough to really hurt him if he falls the wrong way. And then there are the dining room chairs I should worry about, because they lead to the coveted dining room table that he is always pulling stuff off of.

Aaaaand as I write this he has taken off his diaper. There’s another stage for ya! He’s on a roll! *grumble grumble* Stupid mommy books didn’t tell me about this. I should go remedy the diaper situation before I have even more cleaning to do.

Stupid mommy books (still amazing that what little daddy books exist are so condescending) don’t ever really tell you any of the things you really need to know. Butters is the same way, climbing on everything before he’s mastered walking.

So what DID these mysterious parenting books tell you, if not “your child could learn to climb before he walks; in that case, take photos and make him an Internet superstar!” ?

Seriously, I’ve always been a little curious of mommy books, but freaked out about looking at them (what if it says something horrifying that I can’t deal with/what if Nick sees me and thinks I’m baby crazy/etc.).

Man, I am really loving your site. I’m thinking about upgrading my blog too, but I can’t think of a unifying theme like yours which would make it worth the effort.
