April Challenge

I had been hearing about a neat idea around the internets for a few days now and once Dot Dabbled got involved, I knew I had to try it. Hit the link for all the information. Long story short, it’s called “Make Something Cool Every Day for April.” It can be anything! A craft, a meal, a drawing, what have you. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be every day. For instance, I’m just doing every weekday, because this month is going to be extra crazy for me. We’ve started the house hunt hard core (we’re looking at 5 houses this weekend, and probably another 6 or 7 next weekend) and this is my birthday month so around the 19th I plan on goofing off as much as possible and spending WAY too much money on Magic the Gathering cards for myself :)

So I missed posting a craft yesterday because I couldn’t help but be silly. It’s just my nature. I didn’t mean to offend the Christians. Don’t worry, I know the majority of Christians aren’t like the links I provided. Every aspect of society has it’s crazies. Religion is prone to have some, but even gaming has it’s extremes. Like the people that get so obsessed about gaming that they basically become hermits, losing their jobs and families. And don’t even get me started on the unbalanced Anime fans. Ug. The line between fantasy and reality is LOST. And at least Christians aren’t known for their horrible personal hygiene like gamers. Seriously dudes, TAKE A SHOWER!

Anyway, here is my first craft. I made a deck protector for one of my Magic the Gathering decks.

See, it’s matches! I’m the most accessorized gamer girl I know. This is still a rough draft though because it’s a little wonky. I think I may need to use smaller yarns to get a better fit on the next one.

Awww, look at my cute little deck. Don’t those little cards look all cozy? Sleep well, my little saprolings. You need to kick some booty this weekend!

I have a lot of repeat projects I’ll be doing this month, like dice bags. I’ve made like 7 already. I’m putting the finishing touches on them and getting them ready for Etsy so be expecting a lot of those. I have another idea that is really ambitious and probably won’t be finished until May, but I would like some help from any Magic the Gathering players. What creature (or planeswalker) do you think is a favorite from the Conflux set? Let me know in the comments!

    Love it! Crochet I assume?
(By the way i think you mistagged your tweet- it should be just #MSCEApril, not #MSCEAprilCraft, so it shows up with the others. But I RT’ed it anyway so it will show up)

You might consider lining your deck cozy with a woven fabric so the edges/corners of the cards don’t catch in the crochet stitches when you slide them in. :-)

I accept the challenge! I will try to make something every day in April! No, there is no try. I WILL make something every day in April. Or, you know, I’ll try.

Aw, that’s pretty. I wish I had the talent to make something like that.

*goes off to learn whatever this is called*

As far as doing something every day in April, that would be hard…. I have so few useful talents.

Man, maybe next April when I’m all cool and wifey I’ll be able to do something like this. Definitely not this year, though. That card bag is AWESOME–bet you could definitely sell lots of those, too, especially if cards are standard sized for other games. Once again, you remind me that you have more talent in your little finger than I have in my whole body and then some. =)

Good luck with the house hunting! I hear now is a really, REALLY good time, so I’m sure you guys will find a great deal!
