Happy Friday! Here’s a Zelda themed drink to start your weekend:
So all you Zelda fans know the Tri-force has three parts. Link (courage), Zelda (wisdom), and Gannon (strength). That was the inspiration for this drink. I chose a dark Rum for Link, since he represents courage, and the nick-name for rum is “liquid courage.” Then there is 99 Bananas for Zelda. It’s smooth and refreshing (and since she is a girl, she gets the fruity part - duh!). And lastly there is Goldschlager for Gannon, representing strength, because it is the part of this shot that really kicks your ass. And Goldschlager has actual gold flakes in it! How cool is that?!?
This drink is one of those drinks that sneaks up on you. At first it’s very smooth, but strong, but then that cinnamon Goldschlager comes in and AAAAHHHHHHHH OOWWWW!!!! Alex LOVED this drink. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it, either. A little too much flavor of PAIN. But it was yummy, despite that. And FYI, I usually drink alcohol just for the interesting flavors and don’t like getting drunk. After ONE of these, I was pretty goofy. Then when Alex and I drank the remaining ones that we used for the photos, I was halfway to hammered. (Yes, I’m a complete lightweight.) Thankfully, we waited to drink the second shots until after we paid a visit to Cave Radio. I’m pretty sure I would have made a complete fool of myself if I hadn’t!
I have to say that the above picture just doesn’t do the drink justice. All three layers stayed separated very well, but since the bottom two are clear, you can’t pick them up very well on a cheap camera. And you can’t see the gold flakes!! That was supposed to be the super awesome part of this drink. You could see them well when I used a black background, but then the rum just blended into the black. Darn it. I’ll get one of those fancy cameras some day…
I have had enough of these straight up shots. Next week, I’m going for a real drink with ice and everything! It still won’t be a girly drink though. I think that may be the week after that.
Other Gamer Drinks: The 1UP, Zero Suit Samus, and The Moogle.

That’s awesome! I’ll have to try that one sometime! I’m loving the idea of these gamer drinks.
You should make a gamer cookbook; )

I think this drink would totally kick my ass too. But it sounds awesome!
It was totally cool hearing you and Alex on CaveRadio last night! Your real life voice was much different than the voice I had created for you in my head, isn’t that weird? Brian’s voice was the same way when I first heard him talk (before I met him), but Jen was exactly as I’d imagined. I guess I’m just strange like that!

Cave Radio was really fun! I hope that we can get on again next week!
Also, be sure and use DARK rum if you’re going to make this thing. It’s crazy delicious, and Gannon really sneaks up on you.

Freakin’ sweet! Love how they stay as layers. I’m so not a drink person that I wouldn’t even begin to know how to create something like that. I eat/drink enough pop and crap that alcohol would I think literally make something fall out. Plus I have this strict rule of things that I consume must taste good - alcohol just doesn’t taste good…I need girly drinks.
It was awesome having you guys on the show last night! Thanks for helping us fill time
I join Erica in finding it funny how you have someone’s voice in your head and then it doesn’t match up in real life. But you and Alex can pimp your stuff on our show anytime…don’t be a stranger!
A Gamer Drink recipe book would be awesome, cheap, and easy to make. Especially since you already have the good photo part down. That’s the hardest part about cookbooks, I think, because you have to make it *look* good, not just sound good. My friend just used CreateSpace.com to self-publish a book - that kind of stuff would be great for quick books like that.
Then you can open a full Big Kid Gamer Store! You can sell your DS Socks, drink cookbook, cross-stitches, your regular cookbook…I mean, you have a whole line of adult gamer stuff now. And you could take consignment from other people making gamer crafts too. I like it!
(I know, I know…another idea…sorry)

What is this Cave Radio thing?
on Mar 6th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
It’s a show that is transmitted from a cave! They talk about all of the latest stalactites and stalagmites! Also, they have a special section on underground river shrimp! Boy, I found out a lot about calcium/limestone leeching last night!

LOL - If only our show was as exciting as stalactites and -mites.
For those wondering, CAVEradio is just a weekly live radio show I co-host that airs from http://MorningToast.com
Shows are every Thursday at 10P ET and we just talk about various topics of culture, entertainment, news, video games, and whatever else — but more importantly we talk about YOU — our listeners and friends that create stuff on-line.
If you’re on the Twitter chances are we’ll mention something you’ve said. We look around at what’s in front of us and talk about the interesting stuff.
There’s a live chat and we take Skype calls, which Alex tried last night, and it’s just a good time for all…at least we like to think so. But the show is definitely not for the kids, so tuck them in and then hop on for 120 minutes of pure pleasure.
BTW, I’m still working on kinks in getting replays to the site in an efficient manner. Putting up 2-hours of audio is a little more complicated than you 20-minute deal.
But we’re low-budget, straight-from-home folks just having a little fun. I hope everyone can check it out.

For the same reasons as Morning Toast, I am not much of a drinker either. Although, when we were in Germany, we did go to Munich and drink lots of beer. That was fun.
Anyway, the Triforce! I love it! That’s something Link would drink after a long day of Octorok blasting. Mm-hmm. Good stuff you guys.
And CaveRadio was a blast. I was a Caveradio virgin ’til last night and I must say, it was a great time!

Zoooooooomiigoooooooooooooooosh~!
Ok everyone, Internet is over. Nothing better to be seen.
I will say that if you did do the whole “Big Kid Gamer Store” I’d be one of the first customers…but I’m guessing you probably still have reservations about such a thing.
If you’re thinking ice drinks, I have an idea for you: green (Midori, maybe? I’ve never had it but I know it’s green) + white = yoshi eggs! XD

Haha that’s it! Drinks + Games, perfect combination. I won’t be trying that drink though. I’m fine with coffee or soda.
