Morning Toast had a fabulous idea back in the comments of this post. I was planning on doing a cross stitch of these, but I lost a lot of detail when I translated the design over to little squares.
It was really interesting trying to design these. Did you know that pretty much all pictures of these 2 characters were at a three quarters angle? I guess side profiles are just too boring. When looking at the different versions of Mario through the years, I decided to go with the newest design. The original pixelated versions just look like blobs when they were drawn in just black. Mario was easy, with that big ol’ nose and signature hat. Princess Peach was a different story. I really had to use my imagination on how her face and hair should look from the side. I’m hoping that you can tell who she is!
I won’t be selling these on Etsy since it wasn’t my own idea. But if you want them, Morning Toast, just send me an e-mail with your info and I’ll send them to you

They both look great - and you can definitely tell the second one is Peach! Kudos to Morning Toast for a great idea, and to you for pulling it off so well!
You know, a while ago I had a guy in the library asking me if we had any books about cross stitching silhouettes. We didn’t, and at the time I’d never even heard of it being done. There are apparently some books out there on it (I found two on Amazon), so I guess there’s plenty of people doing it. I’d like to see how the get around the detailing problem, though.

Those look awesome! Your ability to execute these crafts is amazing. I’m happy to help and it’s wonderful to see an idea come to reality. I’m jealous though - I wish I had the time and skill to make all this type stuff.
Now multiply that concept by 100 and make one of those giant silhouette cut-outs like the cowboy ones people have on their barns. Ha!
Although I’m totally on a Mega Man kick now that MM9 is out…so my next idea to throw out there is something Mega Man! With a few days off work and seeing all your stuff like this, I’m almost motivated to paint again. I’ve always wanted to paint something 8-bit inspired (like I Am 8-Bit), but never got around to it.

Although Link and Zelda have always been my favorite video game couple, this still rocks my socks off. Great job!
Come to think of it, I don’t think Link/Zelda would come out so great as silhouettes anyway, because you wouldn’t be able to see their signature elfy ears…

When paired with Mario, you can DEFINITELY tell who Peach is!
I think you did an excellent job. I absolutely love these!
I wish I could do something like this.

Hi, is it ok if I use your mario and peach silhouettes on a game-related website I’m making for a class? Please send me an e-mail so we can discuss details.
