New DS Case Design

Alrighty, so I’m getting closer to perfecting the design for DS cases. Tell me what you think:

This is the closest I’ve gotten so far to the perfect dimensions. I’ll need to add a row on the bottom and sides to it’s not straining at the corners. I’m also finding that different brands of yarn, even though they say they are the same size, perform differently. Ironically, the cheapest yarn out there is performing the best. It’s kind of coarse and stiff, so it hold it’s shape more reliably.

One thing I don’t like about this one is how you can see the edges on the cover. Here’s a better picture so you can see what I’m talking about.

What do you think? Is that rough edge distracting, should I leave it, or leave off the second color around the cover to avoid the whole problem?

Actually, I don’t find it distracting at all. It just adds to that homemade, kitsch-y sort of charm.

And these colors totally remind me of your peanut butter cookies. O___O

Awesome! I think that could be the perfect DS Sock Cozy. The edges don’t bother me - keep in mind, this is homemade and it should thus look homemade, that’s a selling point.

I might not worry about making it bigger either. I think the DS Sock should be snug with the DS. I don’t want my DS banging around inside. I think what’s more important in terms of wallets/socks/cozies, is the ability to put the DS in the sock and getting it out fast. The DS should be slide in and out with ease. And consider the yarn may expand(?) after a lot of use and it’ll become looser.

I like the two-tone colors too. Maybe make one that is all same color and see which ones looks best. But I like racing stripes on my cars too…

And “high end” goods are overrated. Cheap yarn works best…cheap nail polish works best (or so I hear)…and I know cheap acryllic paint works best too! Hey, it keeps your overhead down!

Personally, however, the browns are not flattering. Sorry. ;) But we’ll call that Sock the “Coffee Sock”

I agree with the other commenters - I think it looks great! And the edges don’t bother me at all, I think the two colors work really well for this design.

Also, you are on Sprite Stitch today! Yay! :)

I quite like the second colour going around the edge! Personally, I’ve tried crocheting a DS case before, but it didn’t turn out so well. Let’s just say, I don’t have the patience to do much crocheting. Sewing is much faster, and therefore ideal for my short attention span >_<
