First off, sorry I missed posting yesterday. No one told me just how hectic the life of a housewife could be!! And that schedule is continuing on through the weekend…. Wish me luck!
So here is my first attempt at making a deliberate thing with crochet:
I say deliberate because that bracelet I made the first time was a total accident. I think I may have over simplified the stitches in this. It’s pretty dense and doesn’t look like a lot of other crocheted things I’ve seen on the web. Once again, I decided to just jump into this project with out doing a lot of research on the medium. I’m looking into other types of stitches at the moment and thinking of actually using a pattern. Also this whole amigurumi thing is quite fascinating.
There are a couple more shots over in my Geek Crafts Flickr Set. I have another project in the works that HOPEFULLY I can finish over the weekend. They way my week has gone so far, I can’t make any promises!

Well isn’t that cute? I like the little button the best.
You can totally market those. “The DS Sock” — if people will pay $15 for iPod tube socks, they’ll certainly pay for a DS sock. You better go my dssocks.com right now! Or maybe it’s a DS Cozy?
Then you can sell charms, buttons, and pins that can be attached to your DS Sock.

I like the way you think, Toast.

What stitch did you use? It definitely looks like your ds will be very cozy!

If Apple can sell six cheap ass socks for $30, why can’t you sell one hand-made DS Sock for $15? It’s a very niche market that I haven’t seen yet. There’s plenty of DS wallets, and Nerf protectors and stuff — but the DS is seriously lacking in socks. And with something like 6 kajillion DS owners out there, a few will certainly buy them!
So go setup a Yahoo Store and see if anyone bites. Depending how long it takes you to knit one, do them on-demand.
And just to help you along…

My wife would probably buy one if she saw it.

Re: Injury
Well, I was at the gym, doin’ my thang, on the treadmill at a very light jog/brisk walk. All of a sudden, I hear this huge crack and go flying towards the top of the machine–I nearly knocked my teeth out. After that, my knee has been particularly sore, and once it even began throbbing extremely painfully for no apparent reason. I saw the doc Tuesday, and he didn’t like what he saw–basically, MRI for me, and after that, anything from reconstructive surgery to “live with it” and braces. Yikes.
