Dice can be delicious

I may not be able to play D&D anymore, but I can still participate.

I submit for your approval, d20 cookies!

Other photos at Flickr. Not nearly as many as I would like to have, though because the lighting in this place stinks. Damn smelly lights!

Ever since I had the Professor, it has become near impossible to enjoy gaming. I used to be a pretty dedicated video and tabletop gamer. My weekends were full of gaming “appointments.” Saturday was Dungeons and Dragons day. Sunday was our guild’s favorite day for dungeon crawling in World of Warcraft. Not to mention impromptu Halo lan parties and Wii parties. *sigh* Those were the days.

To any parent gamer out there- you can probably sympathize. With a munchkin around, any sort of social gaming becomes damn near impossible. In live games, other people are depending on you (or trying to kill you) and usually don’t care that the baby needs to be fed. They do care about the level 50 murlocs you aggroed while AFK. When he was really small, I could nurse the Professor in his sling while playing online. Ah, the anonymity of the internet. Dungeons and Dragons was right out from the very beginning, however. I’m pretty sure the dudes around the table wouldn’t be interested in me whipping out the boob while rollin’ my dice. Or would they be very interested? Either way, AWKWARD.

So recently, I’ve been enjoying the D&D group vicariously through my husband. Every week, I make something for him to feed his players. It isn’t always themed, but they seem appreciative, nonetheless. Sugar is a very important part of a Gamer’s diet. We are fueled by cookies!

And Mountain Dew.

Congratulations, you made me snort milk! XD

Seriously, though, I think it’s awesome that you’re doing this. I’m sure it only serves to endear you even more to him. What did you use for the blue part, gum paste?

Nope, it’s just royal icing with food coloring : ) You can get Meringue powder at hobby stores to make it without egg whites. Awesome stuff.

Actually with 4th edition it has online components. So we could bring you back into the fold per se. When Prof. gets a little older you could get back into table-top, I mean it isn’t like there aren’t huge breaks built into the game already.

Yeah, just ask our favorite Nicholas of the “well, my turn’s over, going to get Jack in the Box” variety. XD

That is awesome! My wife recently became very intrigued by D&D, her having no experience with it and only knowing the “reputation” of it. The next batch of cookies she makes is going to be multi-sided! Cheers.
